چکیده
Abstract Aim The primary aim of the study is to determine efficacy placement an onlay mesh for prevention incisional hernia after loop ileostomy closure Material & Methods This a multicentric, prospective, randomized controlled trial including patients operated on prior rectal resection cancer. In control group (C), digestive tract reconstructed, abdominal wall performed by 4:1 ratio running suture polydioxanone. Patients in (M) had same procedure performed, and light polypropilene placed onlay. presence was evaluated physical examination at scheduled clinical visits radiologically CT scan end follow-up (6 month surgery) Results 58 were included (27 31 group) . Both groups similar characteristics, except higher rate smokers (48% vs 6%). During follow-up, 5% developed (Group M 0 Group C 11%). At 30 days 5 (16%) surgical site occurrences detected 4 (15%) C. Conclusions A low incidence IH detected. All presented with no stadistically significant differences between groups. Larger trials longer are needed confirm results.

Laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh for pediatric incisional hernia—a case report
BACKGROUND The incidence of incisional hernia in pediatric patients is low in comparison with that reported in adults. In the pediatric population, primary closure has generally been favored. However, synthetic or biomedical mesh offers advantages in the repair of larger defects when primary closure is difficult. The use of laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM) in the adult population ...
متن کاملStomal Closure: Strategies to Prevent Incisional Hernia
Incisional hernias following ostomy reversal occur frequently. Incisional hernias at the site of a previous stoma closure can cause significant morbidity, impaired quality of life, lead to life-threatening hernia incarceration or strangulation and result in a significant financial burden on health care systems Despite this, the evidence base on the subject is limited. Many recognised risk facto...
متن کاملIntraperitoneal Mesh Repair for Incisional Hernia
Seventy-three patients who had incisional hernia repair at two hospitals, a government and a private, from 2000 to 2005 were reviewed. Fifty-nine (80.8%) patients were females and 52 (71.2%) patients were Saudi. Five (6.8%) patients had minor complications. Twenty-four (32.9%) patients had polypropylene mesh while 49 (67.1%) patients had vypro mesh, both types where fixed intraperitoneally usin...
متن کاملSuture versus mesh repair for incisional hernia.
OBJECTIVE To compare suture with mesh repair, for incisional hernia in terms of early and late outcomes. METHODS We reviewed the records of all the patients who presented with primary or recurrent incisional hernia in the Department of General Surgery, Riyadh Medical Complex, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from January 2000 to December 2004. We divided patients, who underwent repair, in 2 g...
متن کاملA double blind randomized controlled trial comparing primary suture closure with mesh augmented closure to reduce incisional hernia incidence
BACKGROUND Incisional hernia is the most frequently seen long term complication after laparotomy causing much morbidity and even mortality. The overall incidence remains 11-20%, despite studies attempting to optimize closing techniques. Two patient groups, patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm and obese patients, have a risk for incisional hernia after laparotomy of more than 30%. These patie...
